Ronald Leonard Wilson

DURHAM- Mr. Ronald Leonard Wilson, 85, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019.

Mr. Wilson was born May 23, 1933 to the late Lenard and Violette Wilson in Schenectady County, New York. He was a graduate of Duke class of 1954. Mr. Wilson played and officiated lacrosse. Mr. Wilson proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was an avid fisherman and loved sports. Mr. Wilson volunteered with Helping Hand and was a member of several professional engineering societies. He was inducted into the 2018 North Carolina/USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Cherie Wilson; sons, Gus Wilson, Bob Wilson, John Wilson; daughters, Michele Smith, Diana Smith; grandchildren, Celeste, Isaac, Ian, Jack, Eli, Ethan, and Claire; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Alex, Scarlett, and Evelyn.

A memorial service will be held at Duke Chapel Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. Following the service a celebration of life for family and friends will be held at the Therapy Duke Garden Center.
