DURHAM- Mrs. Pearl Lanier Fowler, 96, passed away February 7, 2019.Mrs. Fowler was born December 12, 1922, to Dock Van and Nannie Lanier in Davidson County, NC. Pearl dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She filled her home with love and laughter. Upon her husband’s death, she raised her teenage children to be honest and respectable. Pearl enjoyed going to “Prime Timers” at Bethesda Baptist Church. She loved to shop at Dollar Store, Walmart, and loved going to Bojangles. At Carillon Assist Living, she was known as the “hat lady”. Pearl will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.Mrs. Fowler is preceded in death by her parents, Van and Nannie Lanier; husband, William Curtis Fowler, Sr.; daughter, Becky Fowler Wheeler; brothers, Johnie P. Lanier, Chinnis D. Lanier; sisters, Virginia Lanier, Charlotte L. Dellinger, Hattie Lee Nolan; grandson, Timothy C. Fowler, Jr.Mrs. Fowler is survived by her sons, William Curtis Fowler, Jr. (Joyce), Timothy C. Fowler (Rosemary), Gary V. Fowler (Sonya); daughters, Ann F. Vaughn (Steve), Jackie F. Williams (Gerald); son-in-law, James E. Wheeler; brother, Roland V. Lanier (Faye); 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.A visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Hudson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home of Tim Fowler.A funeral service will be held Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. David Trump and Rev. Ernest Ferrell. Pallbearers will be Gerry Williams, II., Harry Tilley, Sam Johnson, Gabe Tilley, Dylan Dickerson, and Taz Ray. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe W. Womble, Jr., Larry O’Berry, Chuck Lanier, Billy Fowler, and Maddux Smith. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hock Hospice Pavilion at 4023 N. Roxboro Rd., Durham, NC 27704.
