James “Pete” Carl Smith

DURHAM- Mr. James Carl Smith also known as “Fat Cat”, 65, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Duke University Hospital.Mr. Smith was born November 13, 1953 to the late Carl and Beulah Smith in Durham, NC. He was a supervisor with Collins Roofing Company. Mr. Smith will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his sons, Shane Gates and Jason Gates.Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamela Keen Smith of Durham, NC; son, Chad Mulchi of Durham, NC; daughter, Donna Marie Smith of Durham, NC; brother, Bobby Abair of Vermont; aunt, Barbara Taylor; sister-in-law’s, Judy Clack and Donna Pipkin (Kyle); nephew, Taylor Clack; grandchildren, Jason Culpepper, Kaden Smith and Konnor Smith and his forever fur baby Anna.Pallbearers will be Steve Crain, Kyle Pipkin, Chad Mulchi, Wilbur Collins, Jason Cullpepper, Wayne Atkins, Phillip Riddle and Matt Tate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Herman Gonzalez.A visitation will be held Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Del Wrightenberry.
