Hugh Allen Jones

DURHAM- Mr. Hugh Allen “Tootie” Jones, 72, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019.
Mr. Jones was born June 14, 1946 in Durham County, North Carolina. He worked for Pifer Industries as Shop Foreman for 16 years, then worked for IBM as Line Foreman for 20 years and then retired. He was a member of the Bull City HOG Harley Davidson Club. Hugh loved Blue Grass Music and clogging. He taught himself how to play the banjo. Hugh enjoyed watching and feeding the deer, and enjoyed yardwork. He was able to fix many things and enjoyed helping others. Hugh enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He will be remembered as a strong man with a kind heart and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Hugh proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Coral Sea along with his brother Leonard Michael “Mickey” Jones.
Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Nellie Elizabeth Jones, and his sister, Sheila Champion.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 34 years, Doris Jones; son, David Jones (Mary Ellen); brothers, Leonard Michael “Mickey” Jones (Lois), Jackie Jones (Carol); sisters, Nancy Francis, Bernie Carden (Homer); grandchildren, Amber Jones, David Andrew Jones; two great-grandchildren, and other loving family members.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
