William Douglas “Doug” Wyatt, 85, of Durham passed away February 15, 2026, at Duke Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Mr. Wyatt was born in Durham County on September 14, 1940, to the late James Robert and Irene Virginia Ricks Wyatt.
Doug is survived by his wife of 61 years Virginia Woods Wyatt; their son David (Cindy) of Butner; his brother, Frank (Sandra) of Durham; grandchildren, Austin (Hannah) of Louisburg and Meredith (Ian) of Buxton; great-grandchildren, Annie and Harrison.
Doug, lovingly called Poppie, enjoyed boating and fishing, at the beach and lakes. He appreciated tractors and antique cars, and was talented with anything mechanical. Poppie enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He took pride in his yardwork, and found enjoyment in feeding his fish, especially with friends.
He was actively involved in church and enjoyed spending time with his church family.
Visitation will be Thursday February 19, 2026, from 12 - 2 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church of Creedmoor, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Bryant, Chad Pearce, Don Witten, Bill Unger, Chad McHenry, and J.B. Mashburn.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryant Inscoe, Garland Reese and Brent Dickerson.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Bible Baptist Church in Doug’s memory.
