William Douglas Johnson, 83, of Durham, NC passed away on August 20, 2025, at his son’s residence.
Mr. Johnson was born on July 2, 1942 in Durham to the late Frank and Mary Bryant Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brothers Walter Johnson, Ray Johnson and David Johnson and grandchildren, Kristen Johnson and Shane Johnson.
He is survived by special friend Leslie Crabtree; sons, Keith Johnson (Lisa) of Stem, NC, Dennis Johnson of Durham, and Justin Johnson (Brittany); sister, Susie J. Eubanks (Sam) of VA; brother, Robert Johnson of Durham; grandchildren, Cora Johnson, Taylor Johnson and Peyton Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was an avid race fan with a love for Late Model Stock Cars. He owned many cars throughout his career, bringing home multiple trophies, including a National Championship in 1993.
He had a passion for motorcycles, riding them and figuring out how to make them go faster. He took numerous cross country rides and attended many events with his biker friends.
He loved his family and friends, spending as much time as he could with each of them. He was a special character who lived life to the fullest. He was our Daddy, Pa, Brother, Uncle, Hero and Friend. He has left his footprints in our hearts, and he will be missed dearly.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday September 13, 2025, beginning at 1 p.m. at Bralie’s Sports Bar, 1725 Carpenter Fletcher Road in Durham.
