William "Bill" Lacy Stone

William “Bill” Lacy Stone, 90, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. He was born on November 26, 1934 in Durham, NC to the late Clayborne and Helen Stone.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Eleanor Stone; son, Steven Stone; brother, Randy Stone and grandson, Ben Chambers.

Mr. Stone retired as a Supervisor in Printing and Reproduction for IBM after over 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed gardening and listening to Gospel music. Bill was known for his great personality and was a kind friend to everyone. He will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known him.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Sherry Stone; brother, Kenny Stone (Becky); sister, Carolyn Stone Briggs; sister-in-law, Teresa Stone; grandchildren, Clint Chambers (Jennifer) and Misty Chambers; granddaughter-in-law, Christina Chambers; great-grandchildren; Jacob Chambers, Walker Chambers (Lindsay), Michael Wright, Jenna Chambers; and other loving family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham, NC. Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate.
