Walter H. "Walt" Morris

Mr. Walter Howard “Walt” Morris, 79, passed away August 22, 2023, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Durham.

Mr. Morris was born June 8, 1944, in Person County, NC to the late Howard Obie Morris and Alice Owens Morris. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Brenda Fletcher Morris.

Walt proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 21 years prior to retiring as a Master Sergeant. Walt was an avid woodworker and enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of the Durham Old Golfers Club. He was also a long-time member and served as Treasurer of the Durham Exchange Club.

Mr. Morris is survived by his sons, Brian Morris and wife Stephanie, Scott Morris, and wife Kellie; grandchildren, Alex Morris Hoffert (James), Peyton Morris, Madison Morris, Aiden Morris, Ethan Morris, Adelynn Morris, Emersyn Morris, Austyn Morris, and Evan Morris; brothers, Ricky Morris and wife Marie and David Morris and wife Myra. Also, several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. September 9, 2023, at Shady Grove FWB Church followed by a  memorial service with military honors at 2 p.m. at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Tim McCreight.

Flowers are acceptable.
