Vyrtee Berry Hight

Mrs. Vyrtee Frances Berry Hight, 96, passed away January 9, 2023.

 

Vyrtee was born November 20, 1926, a daughter to the late Newby Bryant Berry and Annie Lee Hall Berry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hight was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Hight; sister, Foy Bridgers; and niece, Patricia Goodwin.

 

Mrs. Hight is survived by her brother, Wayne Berry (Carol) of Caldwell, NC; and nieces and nephews, Chuck Bridgers (Tracy), Cheryl Hand (George), Rob Hight (Jan), Brenda Black, Pam Parker (Stan), Rick Hight (Lina), Lindy Poole (Larry), Rebecca Sanghavi, and Jan Cordell (Rodney); loyal friends, Freddie and Linda McBroom; as well as other loving family members and friends.

 

Vyrtee graduated from Caldwell High School and Croft’s Secretarial and Accounting School. She worked for Home Security Life Insurance Company for many years. Vyrtee lived in the Bethesda Community for most of her life, where she was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Albert, on August 15, 1950, at Bethesda. Vyrtee enjoyed working with her husband in his real estate business and loved gardening and working in her yard. She will be deeply missed.

 

Serving as Pallbearers will be Chuck Bridgers, Rob Hight, George Hand, Robbie Hight, and Joey Mitchell.

 

A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Hudson Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields. Entombment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel of Hope Mausoleum.

Vyrtee was lovingly cared for in her home, full time for many years by Barbara Locklear and Anita Locklear. Former caregivers include Della Lambert, Shirley McMillan, Brenda Black, Jean Boggan, Janie Reaves, and Paula Daye.
