Virginia Faye Mitchell Goss

Mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, and sister, Virginia "Faye" Mitchell Goss was dedicated to you till the end of her life on July 23, 2025, due to a stroke. This beautiful lady was born on November 26, 1940, to the late Archie and Lois Mitchell.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Karen Goss Price Shankle, and her cherished grandson, Jason Price. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Cangas (George), brother Ralph Mitchell (Kathy), a niece who was like a daughter to her, JoAnn Murray, and many other nieces and nephews.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Goss; siblings Archie "Bud" Mitchell Jr., Jean Chase, Jimmy Mitchell, James "Dickie" Mitchell, Lois Ann Hayes, Janie Bradburn, Ronnie Mitchell, Joe Mitchell, Roselee Taylor, Susie Bishop, and Marie Moses.

During Faye's 84 years, she went from farm girl to being in NYC at the age of 23 as a retail buyer for Thalhimers Department Store. Everyone quickly learned of her hard work and dedication, and she rose through the ranks to become Personnel Manager and Store Manager at a time when management was dominated by men.

Her favorite role was being a grandmother to Jason. She played games, attended sporting events, and most importantly, supported Jason with love. Even though Faye grew up on a farm in a family of 14 children, she wasn't the outdoor type if it involved dirt and bugs, but for Jason, she would push through. She loved hearing Jason open the door to our house and having his dog, Sadie, run in to meet her.

We will all miss her sweet smile, her radiant beauty, and her as a role model as a Christian woman doing her devotion at the kitchen table before she started on the rest of her day. We all can express our tears over her death, but God is rejoicing to have her home.

A visitation will be held Thursday July 24, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday July 25, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Dr. Gerald Goodwin will officiate.
