Vera Chisenhall Hockaday

DURHAM Mrs. Vera Christine Chisenhall Hockaday, 89, of Durham, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018.
Mrs. Hockaday was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Joseph Chisenhall and Eula Rigsbee Chisenhall. She retired from Durham Drapery Company as a seamstress. She was a loving mother and was her daughter’s best friend. She loved Flea Market shopping. She was predeceased by her daughter, Judy Gail Hockaday; brothers, Joe and Themous Chisenhall and two sisters, Marie Elizabeth Smith and Nellie Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Hockaday; daughter, Erma Jean Fields and son-in-law, Dennis of Durham; sister, Mary Butler of Chapel Hill and grandson, Dennis Michael Fields.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pastor RJ Smith will officiate. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com
