Valerie Kay Hinesley

Valerie Kay Hurst Hinesley, 50, of Durham passed away February 19, 2026, at her residence. Mrs. Hinesley was born in        Durham County on September 23, 1975, to Carlton and Kay Hurst of Creedmoor.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hinesley is survived by her husband, Joseph W. “Joey” Hinesley of Durham; daughters, Kayleigh Hinesley and fiancé Jeremey Guastavino of Durham, Stephanie Gerardi and husband Troy of Stem, NC; brother, Carlton Wayne Hurst, Jr. and wife April of Creedmoor, NC; grandchildren, Lucas Gerardi, Skyler Gerardi, Carson Gerardi, Mia Gerardi and Aiden Guastavino.

Valerie was known for her infectious laugh and vibrant personality. She had a natural way of lighting up every room she walked into. Her sense of humor was unforgettable, and anyone who ever met her remembers the joy and laughter she brought into their lives. She loved deeply, gave freely, and made everyone around her feel special. Her family meant everything to her, and she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Being “Granny” brought her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment with her grandchildren. Her warmth, strength, and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held on Thursday March 5, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday March 6, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Hurst, Chris Davie, Troy Gerardi, Jeremey Guastavino, Lucas Gerardi, and Chaz Clayton         Honorary Pallbearer will be Jose Rodriguez.

Flowers are acceptable.
