Thomas Wayne Pope

DURHAM Mr. Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Pope, 36 of Durham, died at Duke University Medical Center on Monday, July 9, 2018.
Mr. Pope was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Thomas Norman Pope and Sandra Louise Rudd Pope. He loved playing the guitar; had an artistic eye and could draw a picture that would look like a photograph. He loved history, especially military history and loved to learn, read and debate historical topics. He loved camping, target shooting; animals, especially cats and watching horror movies and his favorite was The Walking Dead. He was in a band and loved listening to “heavy metal” music.
He is survived by his sister, Dorie Pope Stephens; brother-in-law, Thomas Stephens; uncle, Tim Sauls; cousins, Chad Sauls, Wendy Sauls Gutierrez Cruz and Cindy Sauls Wall, Debbie, Joey and Lisa Williams; nieces, Brandy Eggleston Pope, Brittany Stephens, Breea Gross, Bryawnna Gross and many other cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Donald Maynard.
