Thomas Wayne Mims

DURHAM – Mr. Thomas Wayne Mims, age 80, passed away on December 8, 2021.

Wayne was born November 7, 1941 to the late Thomas and Katherine Roberts Mims in Durham, NC. Mr. Mims served his country in the United States National Guard. He retired after 37 years as a machine operator with Gold Belt Manufacturing Company. Wayne enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards. He will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mims was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Dodson.

Mr. Mims is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Eleanor H. Mims; daughters, Cindy Young (Joey) of Durham, NC and Gwen Mims of Durham, NC; and grandchildren, Taylor Young, Jimmy Young, and Chris Allen.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2021 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields.
