Theresa Ann Balmer

Theresa Ann Doss Balmer, 61, of Leland, North Carolina, passed away on January 12, 2026, at her residence. Mrs. Balmer was born in Durham on June 8, 1964. She was preceded in death by her father, Randall Clay Doss of Danville, Virginia, in 1965, and her dearly beloved mother, Faye Currie of Durham, in 2013.

Mrs. Balmer is survived by her son, Randall Balmer of Leland, North Carolina; daughters Melanie Balmer and fiancé Junior Collao of Clinton, North Carolina, Stephanie Balmer (Jay McDaniel) of Leland, North Carolina; siblings, David Clay Doss and wife Lee of Mebane, North Carolina, Michelle "Millie" Doss of Durham, Rita Doss of Durham and Sandra Shambley and husband Mike also of Durham; grandchildren, Austin Bain, Aubrie McKinney and Lily Faye Balmer; caregiver Alisha Sue-Craft and special fur baby “Jessie Faye”.

Theresa was a very hard working strong woman who raised her three children independently. She was a successful business owner; she loved the outdoors and farm life. She loved loud music, her boots, and a good porch swing. She loved making homemade cooked meals, especially her highly demanded beef stew. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was the highlight of her life. She loved all her family, including her many nieces and nephews. Despite fighting a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, she remained positive, strong-willed, and always had a double thumbs up and a soft whisper of “I’m fine”. She will be missed deeply by her family, and her strength and fighting spirit will live on with us forever.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Danny Evans, Sr. of Living Waters Christian Community.
