We are sad to announce Mrs. Margaret “Sue” Evans Edwards, 82, passed away September 28, 2023.
Sue was born February 20, 1941, in Wake County, to the late Woodrow Wilson Evans and Dovie Marks Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Evans, Edward Evans, and Johnny Evans.
Sue’s unwavering devotion to her family and her deep love for her husband were the cornerstones of her life. She cherished her role of wife, mother, and grandmother and was a constant source of support, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her love extended beyond her immediate family as she embraced and cared for so many.
Sue was the life of the party, she brought joy, laughter and infectious energy to every family gathering, social event, and celebration. Sue’s love for margaritas was just one aspect of her vibrant personality, which was filled with warmth, laughter, and genuine zest for life. She had an uncanny ability to light up a room, leaving a mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband of 57 years, Winford “Wayne” Edwards; daughters, Melinda Sue Edwards, Billie Ann Edwards, Kristie Michele Crutchfield (Andy), Sabrina Elizabeth Edwards Smith (Mikie), Barbara Elizabeth Stover (Rob), and Meshell Edwards; son, Kerry Wayne Edwards; sisters, Rachel Clements, Louise Griffin, Shirley Hodges, Elaine Durham (Jim), and Billie Horne (Danny); grandchildren, Savannah Laine Wilkins, Cameron Andrew Crutchfield, Owen Michael Smith, Carter Anderson Crutchfield, Sawyer Wayne Smith, Joseph Cael Montague, Aubrey Claire Crutchfield, Mason Washington Smith, and Oliver Gray Stover; as well as other loving family members and friends.
Sue will never be forgotten, forever remembered, and missed by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A visitation will be held at Hudson Funeral Home on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Cameron Crutchfield, Owen Smith, Carter Crutchfield, Sawyer Smith, Cael Montague, Mason Smith, Mikie Smith, and Andy Crutchfield.
