Shirley Soyars

DURHAM- Ms. Shirley Jean Soyars, 79, passed away on August 30, 2021.

Ms. Soyars was born November 9, 1941 to the late Harry and Nannie Soyars. Shirley was the most caring, sweet, and soft-spoken woman. She loved baby dolls and her favorite color was pink. Shirley looked out after all her housemates and would help the staff members look in tip top shape. She enjoyed being able to love on the children at Murdoch. Her favorite foods were chocolate pie and black, sweet coffee. Shirley loved her family, especially her father. She will be deeply missed, as she was loved by all.

Shirley is survived by her many cousins.

Interment will be held at Colbert O. Moran Cemetery in Gretna, VA. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Murdoch Developmental Center for the 62 years of love and care of Shirley.
