Sherra MacDonald Cole passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at ECU Health in Greenville, NC.   Sherra was born in Stanly County to the late Kenneth Maxell MacDonald and Elaine Story Smith.

During Sherra’s younger working years, she was employed by Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company, Bristol Myers and Bio Merieux, Inc.

Sherra had a gift with words and wrote beautiful poetry, she was an avid reader and loved learning new things and exploring beautiful places through her books.  Along with her love for reading, she connected with all animals, especially cats and dogs.  Sherra was kind and loving, which everyone could see and feel in her sweet smile and bright eyes.  Sherra was a member of Lowe’s Grove Baptist Church and above all she loved God, family and friends. 

Sherra is survived by her brother Kenneth MacDonald, and his wife, Amanda MacDonald, a niece Brandi Cole, Stepfather Mike Smith, Stepbrothers Brett Smith, (Kristin) and Todd Smith (Catherine), nieces and nephews Bennett Smith, JP Smith, Olivia Smith, Finley Smith, Stella Smith, Aunts, Sue Herring, Susan Sears and Jane Smith, along with numerous cousins.

The family would like to take this time to add a very special thank you to the lady that cared for Sherra over the last few years.  Mrs. Carrie Dudley of Kinston, NC.  God put Carrie in our lives on a day that we thought we had no where to turn.  Carrie is indeed what we all refer to as an “Angel on Earth”. 

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Lowes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Jim Baggett of Lowes Grove Baptist Church and Pastor Carrie Dudley of Perfecting Ministries of God in Kinston, NC.
