Seymour Neal
Adams
May 10, 1951 – April 22, 2026
Mr. Seymour Neal Adams, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Neal was born on May 10, 1951 to the late Seymour B. and Nell Neal Adams in Henderson, NC. Neal attended Townsville School, was a graduate of Fike High School in Wilson NC and Wilson Technical Institute where he received his degree in Drafting. He went on to work for Kane Construction and later Mixon Construction as a Project Manager for many years before retiring to care for his wife, Sharon Baker Adams, during her years-long struggle with early on-set dementia until her passing in 2021.
Neal married Sharon in 1992 at Massey’s Chapel UMC in Durham, NC. In 1993, they welcomed their son, Ryan Adams, into the world. Over the next 28 years, their undying devotion to one another carried them through many changes, challenges, and celebrations. They had a deep love for family and friends often watching over and teaching their son and his childhood friends as they grew up and helping to take care of those around them. They were involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to share in their son’s joy for scouting and Neal took on the role of a baseball coach for the little league team his son played on.
After Sharon’s passing, Neal met Sandy Williams Rader. They were able to support each other through the recent losses of their spouses and built a loving connection that helped pull them both out of a period of grieving in their lives. Neal moved from the Durham area and bought a home on Lake Norman in Denver, NC where he and Sandy shared their lives and love for their families.
Neal loved collecting, fixing, and driving classic muscle cars and enjoyed family trips to the beach. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and partner.
A private service will be held for family and invited guests. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation at https://glioblastomafoundation.org/get-involved/donate/
Mr. Adams is survived by his son, Ryan Neal Adams (and wife Sarah Greener Adams); grandchildren, Lexie, Leon, and Levi; sisters, Dianne Ussery of Wilson NC and Kay Niederkrom of San Antonio TX; nephews, Jason Ussery of Raleigh NC, Chris Niederkrom of San Antonio TX, and Brian Niederkrom of Pipe Creek TX; and partner, Sandy Williams Rader of Denver NC.
