Ruth Street

Mrs. Ruth W. Street, 94, of Timberlake, NC, died on Tuesday September 1st, 2026. She was born on August 27, 1932, to the late Joe and Stella Walker of Fuquay-Varina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Bruce Street; two sisters, Ladoska Chandler and Christine Roberts; one half-sister, Ethelene Pleasants, and brothers Mac and Woodrow Walker. 

Mrs. Street is survived by one daughter, Janice Ellis, son-in-law, Billy Ellis, and one grandson, Taylor (wife Stephanie) Ellis.

She was married to her loving husband, Bruce Street, for sixty years and resided in Timberlake for much of her life. Mrs. Street retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco after thirty years of service. In her retirement, she enjoyed cooking and became an avid reader, particularly of mystery books gifted to her by her grandson. She was grateful for everything she had and was a loving mother who was always there for her family.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Rd., Durham, NC 27703. Rev. Hugh O'Shields will officiate.
