Ruth Fisher Riggs

DURHAM- Bonnie Ruth Fisher Riggs, 88, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021.

Mrs. Riggs was born on March 21, 1933 to Leroy and Lora Fisher in Sneads Ferry, NC. She loved shopping, horseback riding, and entertaining friends. Ruth enjoyed her business, Durham Optical Company and in her free time going on trips to the coast. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Riggs was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, “Buck” L.R. Fisher and Ross O. Fisher.

Mrs. Riggs is survived by her husband, Kermit Riggs of Durham, NC, and daughter, Jera Riggs-DeBalsi and her wife, Dr. Karen DeBalsi, of Durham, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Reverend Arnold Price.
