Ronald Edward Robinson

RONALD EDWARD ROBINSON of Raleigh, NC was escorted to Heaven by God’s angels on December 27, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years and two cherished sons and their spouses, Rob (Janie) and David (Vicki) along with eight grandchildren, Catie, Emily, Maggie, Clinton, Ian, Colin, Taylor and Nick.  He is also survived by his 3 younger brothers and their spouses, Bob (Jeanie), Tom (Janet) and Glenn (Lori), nieces Kristie, Ashley and Kyia and nephews Craig, Christopher, Chase and Bryce.  He was preceded in death by his parents Maynard (Bud) and Lorraine Robinson of Silver Spring, MD

Born in Washington, DC, he grew up in Silver Spring, a suburb to DC.  He attended St. Bernadette’s where he met his best friend, Bill Morgan, and the two graduated from Northwood High School.  Ron began working in Sales, Marketing and Advertising and was employed by the Sentinel Newspaper, and several radio stations before he and Sandy relocated to NC.  He began on own limo business in Durham, then moved on to Southern Coach and lastly, University Ford in Durham where he excelled as a Credit Specialist.  He had a gift for talking with people and making them feel special, with a guided sense of fairness, compassion and an undaunted can-do spirit.  At home, he was content tinkering in the yard and garage and sometimes could be seen dancing with an invisible partner either in the garage, or on their back deck.  He loved eating out every weekend and going to Disney World with his brothers and wives  frequently.  He loved life and was forever hopeful, positive, sweet-natured and kind.   Beloved by many, he will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, January 27 at 11:00 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 6211 Leesville Rd., Durham, NC.  A light luncheon will be provided at 11:45 at the church where family and friends are welcome.  Interment will follow at 1:15 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Rd., Durham, NC
