Ronald Dean Belville, age 78, of Durham, North Carolina, died peacefully Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Duke Hock Family Hospice Pavilion in Durham.
Ron was born June 13, 1945 in Union County, Ohio. A 1963 graduate of Elgin High School where he was an active member of FFA, his “hobby,” even during his school years, was working. Ron was known for always keeping busy, whether in his yard (or others’ yards) or serving in various capacities with his church. As a former resident of Marysville, he was a member of Marysville Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and Elder for over 30 years. Ron enjoyed performing skits for members of the church, whether for school agers or the “young at heart.” He retired as a quality engineer at Honda of America in 2007 after 23 years of service.
In 2012, Ron and his wife, JoAnn, moved to Franklin, Tennessee to be close to family. From there, they relocated to Durham, North Carolina.
Following his retirement, he and JoAnn traveled regularly across the United States with dear friends. Ron enjoyed visiting Amish country, especially Holmes County, Ohio. Above all, he adored his family and loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
He was predeceased by his father, Gale Edwin Belville, Sr.; his daughter, Sandra Ann Belville; an infant grandson, Steven Allen Cox; his brothers, Robert Lee Belville and Gale Edwin Belville, Jr.; his step-brother, Ray Blackmore; his grandparents, Burl and Donna Belville; his foster parents, Gerald and Georgia Orahood; a foster sister, Sherry Herriott; his in-laws, Kermit and Alice Bushong; and brother-and sister-in-law, Ted and Jackie Bushong.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, JoAnn Bushong Belville, whom he married December 8, 1973 at Marysville Church of Christ; his son, Aaron (Jessica) Belville of Raleigh, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Jessica (Sean) Colwell, Brianne (Kyle) Criswell, Donovon (Holli) Cox, Liam Belville and Remy Belville; great-grandchildren, Kandace and Kambry Criswell and Oliver and Archer Colwell; sisters-in-law, Judy Belville and Terri Belville; brother-in-law, Dan (Joyce) Bushong; his foster siblings, Peg (Jeff) Danner, Kevin (Ginger) Orahood and Bud Herriott; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
