Robert Edward "Eddie" Melvin, Jr.

Robert Edward(Eddie) Melvin, Jr. 47 of Oak Island, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 8th 2026. He was born in Durham, NC on December 23,1978, to Robert Edward Melvin, Sr and Sherry Dianne Kirkland. Known affectionately as Uncle Eddie to many, Eddie was a truck driver, painter, caregiver and loved animals.

Eddie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents William O Melvin Jr, Katherine West Melvin; step-father William (Billy) Kirkland and Uncle Charles (Charlie) Melvin.

Along with his parents Eddie is survived by his maternal grandmother Wilma Keith Fletcher; his sister Michelle Wall (Jody); niece Abigail Wall; nephew Ryan Wall; Aunts Betsy Miller( Stephen), Debbie Melvin; Sonya Parker (Stephen) and Elaine Keith Jones; Uncle Fulton West (Faye); step-sister Julie Thacker; step-brothers Greg Thacker, Matt Thacker, Jimmy Thacker and Brad Thacker; cousins Laura Miller, Katherine Hoots (Bryant), David Miller( Jennifer), Jake, Luke, Hannah, Hunter, Robert Parker (Haleigh) and Clint LaRicos-Parker (Peter) and 9 Step-nieces and nephews.
