Randy Hill

Randy Hill, 60, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026. He was born June 17, 1965, in Durham, NC, to the late Bill and Ida Hill.

Mr. Hill was born to help people and made it his life; he was a Paramedic with Durham County EMS for over 33 years, becoming a Corporal and Field Training Officer. In his early years, he volunteered at Lebanon Fire Department. He also worked at Person County EMS, Durham Bulls Park, and at the Redwood Fire Department for many years. Upon his retirement from Durham County, he began a career as a Parts Specialist with Thompson Buick & GMC.

During his dedicated career as a Paramedic and First Responder, he received many accolades. He was not only known as Randy, but he was also called “Zeke”. Even after retirement, he would attend EMS conferences to be around friends and colleagues.

Randy, though an only child, was deeply devoted to family and cared for his aging parents with great love and responsibility. Like his parents, he enjoyed hosting gatherings and bringing people together, and with his vibrant personality, he was often the highlight of the party. He enjoyed going to Bill’s Place at Kerr Lake and assisting with transports with the Southern Siberian Rescue.

Mr. Hill was an avid UNC fan, a dedicated New Orleans Saints fanatic, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed playing golf.

Randy was a well-respected Paramedic. He was a quick-witted man and a proud grandfather.

Mr. Hill is survived by his daughter, Ariel Wilkins (Mark Zeltmann); grandson, Dawson Zeltmann; dog, Blazer; special friend, Ralph Thompson; his EMS comrades; and the Dinosaur Crew.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Hudson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC. Interment will follow at South Granville Memorial Gardens, 3040 Old NC 75, Stem, NC. Chaplain Ralph Thompson will officiate.

Serving as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be Durham County EMS.

We are forever grateful for all the prayers and to the many friends who visited him in the hospital, and especially, Ralph Thompson, for everything he has done throughout the years.
