Patty "Pat" Jean Neal

Patty “Pat” Jean Aiken Neal, 88, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026. She was born on March 9, 1938 in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Melvin and Lizzie Keith Aiken.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by the love of her life, Chief Master Sgt. Winslow “Windy” Neal, USAF (Retired) who died on April 16, 1976 of Cancer they were married for 19 years and traveled the world together; her sisters, Goldie Collins, Annie Bell Clark and Betty Norwood; brothers, Flinton Aiken, Worth Aiken, Norris Aiken and Jimmy Aiken

Mrs. Neal attended Granville County Schools and graduated from Atlantic Beauty College in Cosmetology. Pat was also a floral designer and assisted at Hudson Funeral Home until retiring in 2003. She also served as volunteer in social services for the elderly.

Pat was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Mrs. Neal is survived by her daughters, Debbie Neal, Theresa “Terry” Neal and Donna Merritt; son, Gary Neal (Donna); sister, Marrynell Whitman; sisters-in-law, June Aiken and Joyce Aiken; grandchildren, Danielle Julian (Braden), Morgan Gioconda (Ricky), Nicholas Merritt, Dalton Reep (Christina), Justin Neal (Kelsey), Hayley Neal, Madison “Maddie” Merritt, Tyler Neal (Leslie) and Lydia Merritt; great grandchildren, Wyatt Julian, Eleanora Julian, Caroline Julian, Mason Reep, Finnley Gioconda, Charlotte Gioconda, Savanah Gioconda, Greyson Neal, Tatum Neal, Magnolia Neal and Ryder Neal and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham, NC. Pastor Randy Youmans will officiate.

The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 A.M.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Nicholas Merritt, Justin Neal, Tyler Neal, Ricky Gioconda, Jose Navarro, Spencer Hart and Jack Belcher.
