Patsy Ann Corbin Silk

October 6, 1952 — February 20, 2023

Patsy Ann Silk, 70, of Durham, North Carolina peacefully passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023.  She was born on October 6, 1952, to Donald and Patricia Corbin in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Patsy grew up in Agawam, Massachusetts where she married the love of her life, Wayne D. Silk, on August 29, 1970. She was a devoted wife for 52 years. Patsy and Wayne lived in Agawam, Ma, then moved to Kenner, La, built a home in Laplace, La, then relocated to Chapel Hill, NC, and finally, built a retirement home here in Durham, NC.

Patsy’s primary goal was to be a wife and mother. She was a loving mother who focused on her children when they were young. As they grew, Patsy loved spending time with her family and particularly enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.

Patsy earned a diploma from the Account Clerk program at River Parishes Vocational Technical School in Reserve, La.  Patsy worked a wide variety of jobs, but was most proud of owning and running a blueprint business. In NC, she worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant for doctors at both Duke and UNC.

Patsy has been a faithful and active member of Fletchers Chapel United Methodist Church for over 10 years. Patsy volunteered regularly at the church and coordinated their Backpack Buddies Program. She served as President of Fletchers Chapel UMC United Women in Faith group and was the Treasurer for the Ruth Circle.

Patsy loved to read and regularly volunteered at school libraries. Patsy was known to be meticulous and detail oriented, which she demonstrated with her beautiful counted-cross-stitch creations and by editing her brother’s novels and the church bulletins.  Patsy also liked to garden, work puzzles, and play word games. She spent many happy hours researching the genealogy of her very large extended family.

Patsy was always a very determined woman who fought several health challenges with grace and positivity. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be missed by everyone blessed to have known her.

Patsy is preceded in death by her father, Donald Corbin and brother, Thomas Corbin.

Patsy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Wayne D. Silk; her mother, Patricia Corbin; daughter, Kimberly Arwood (Brian); son, Robert “Bob” Silk; grandchildren, Christopher Arwood and Nicole Arwood; siblings, Diane Lindsley (Terry), Donna Sobinski (Kenny), Judy Andrews (Bill), Bill Corbin (Sue), Dawn Faucheaux (Jim), Gary Corbin (Renee), Linda Wright (Hugh), and Alan Corbin (Julia); and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703.  Officiating will be The Reverend Dr. Suzanne Cobb.  The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 A.M.
