Patrick "Pat" Dennis

September 10, 1930 — January 17, 2024

Concord, Virginia

Patrick Bryant Dennis was born September 10, 1930 and went home to Jesus from his bed at the home of Bryan and Angel Moody as she read the Bible to him on January 17, 2024. (Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15)

Pat is survived by his daughter Dianne Moody and husband David Moody, his grandson Bryan Moody and wife Angel Moody, granddaughter-in-law Leslie Dorr, great grandchildren Embri, Elaina, Bryson and Declan Moody, and Cameron Mitchell. His dear caregiver was Christy Davis who selflessly served him daily and loved him well. The family is grateful to Centra Health Hospice and their medical staff.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mozelle Dennis, his wife, Peggy Dennis, and siblings John, Luke, Doc, Julian, Claude and Lillie Mae. Also his grandson and namesake Patrick David Moody.

Pat enlisted full time in the North Carolina National Guard in 1950 as a Private and retired in 1990 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer W-4. He and Peggy faithfully attended the Gospel Center and Thursday Morning Bible Study for many years. He and Peggy enjoyed volunteering with Duke University concessions for 30 years in both football and basketball. Pat had many precious memories: his loving marriage to Peggy for 70 years, being The Worlds Greatest Dad, his salvation, time with his grandsons and later with his great grandchildren, baptizing both his grandsons and officiating the weddings of both grandsons.

A military service will be held at Hudson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 24, at 12 noon with Reverend Johnny Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at 11 :00 at Hudson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Moody, Lee Capps, Brad Capps, Daniel Pierce and Michael Clemons, Bryson Moody and Jeff Capps.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a tree in memory of Pat. The trees will be planted on family Land as a memorial to Pat as he Loved working in his yard and enjoying God's creation.
