Patricia Ann
Brown
Sep 2, 1941 — Sep 19, 2026
Durham
Patricia Ann Brown, affectionately known as “Nannie” to her family and “Mrs. Brown” to many who knew and respected her, age 85, of Durham, North Carolina, was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 19, 2026. She was born on September 2, 1941, to the late Edward and Ruby Woods.
Nannie was a loving and caring woman whose life was marked by compassion, generosity, kindness, and unconditional love. She had a selfless heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. If someone was in need, Nannie did what she could to help. She gave of herself freely and never expected anything in return.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Brown devoted herself to serving others. She worked as a housekeeper at UNC Chapel Hill and later as a teacher’s aide in the Durham Public School system. Through her work and her everyday interactions, she touched the lives of many people with her patience, warmth, and caring spirit.
Nannie found joy in spending time with her family, camping at the lake, and shopping on her days off. She treasured the simple moments spent with the people she loved most. Family was at the heart of who she was, and she cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by those she loved.
Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and acceptance. Family and friends knew they could come to Nannie and feel welcomed. She had a special gift for making people feel cared for and loved. She opened her heart and her home to others without hesitation.
Nannie will forever be remembered for her selfless heart, unconditional love, generous spirit, and compassionate nature. She taught those around her, not simply through words, but through the way she lived her life. Her willingness to help others and her genuine concern for the people around her were among the qualities that made her so special.
The love she gave to her family will remain one of her greatest legacies. The memories she created, the lives she touched, and the kindness she showed will continue to live on through the generations who follow her.
Though our hearts are heavy because she is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing that Nannie’s earthly journey has come to an end and that she is now resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
