Oscar Lee Allen

Mr. Oscar Lee Allen, age 85, passed away on January 15, 2022.

Oscar was born on December 8, 1936, in Durham, NC, a son of the late William James and Juanita Bragg Allen. Mr. Allen was a longtime, faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Pifer Industries and Wright Machinery. He loved keeping busy, especially being outside and doing yard work. Oscar was an avid Duke Fan and enjoyed coaching girls’ softball. He enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Oscar will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his brother, James Allen and Jerdan Allen; and sisters, Alma English and Grace Marshall.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Overcash Allen; daughter, Yvetta A. Smith and husband, Jock; and grandchildren, Jared Smith and Hannah Hunt (Michael).

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields and Pastor Jonathan Barbee. A private entombment will be held at a later date.
