Mrs. Mazell Watson Brame, 98, of Durham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mrs. Brame was born on March 14, 1928, in Granville County to the late Sterling McMauley and Lillian Frazier Watson.
In 1951, she married her beloved husband, Rudolph Brame, with whom she shared 33 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 1984. Together, they raised two daughters, Sharon and Rita, and built a loving family whose bond continued throughout the years.
A woman of strong faith, Mrs. Brame was a longtime member of Hester Baptist Church in Oxford, NC. She enjoyed listening to televangelists and Christian music.
She also loved the outdoors and took great pleasure in working in her yard and tending to her flower garden.
One of her favorite pastimes was working on word-search puzzles. She would go on to retire from Liggett and Myers after many years of faithful service as a machine operator.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Brame was preceded in death by her brothers, Austin Watson and Guthrie Watson; and her sisters, Margaret Kelly and Rebecca Tunstall.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Sharon B. Faust (Mike) and Rita Brame, both of Durham; grandchildren, Dawn Faust and Jaime Faust (Carlos); great-grandchildren, Logan Jennings (Emily), Chandler Thompson, Mason Thompson (Taylor), Jaxon Tapp, and Tripp Tapp; and two great-great-grandchildren, Eloise and Zachary.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Hudson Funeral Home on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Glenn Farren officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Jennings, Chandler Thompson, Carlos Tate, Mason Thompson, Jaxon Tapp, and Tripp Tapp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Brame's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Mrs. Brame will be lovingly remembered for her faith, devotion to her family, and the simple joys she found in life. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
