Mattie Atkins Duke

DURHAM- Mattie Atkins Duke, 87, passed away December 18, 2018.

Mrs. Duke was born December 30, 1930 to Wade and Josephine Atkins in Wake County, NC. She retired in 1968 after 42 years at Liggett-Myers as a machine operator. Mrs. Duke loved birds, animals, especially her dogs, and flowers. She will be lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.

Mrs. Duke was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Josephine Atkins; husband, Edward Alton Duke; brothers, James D. Atkins, Bobby R. Atkins.

Mrs. Duke is survived by her brother, John Atkins (Linda) of Durham, NC; sisters, Betty Murry of Emerald Isle, NC, Mary Doris Barbee (Foy) of Durham, NC; many nieces and nephews.
