Mary Jenkins Upchurch

Mary Jenkins Upchurch, 78, lifelong resident of Morrisville, North Carolina went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. She was born June 10, 1946 in Wake County, NC to the late Fermon and Mary Jenkins from Morrisville, NC.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sons, Jimmy Upchurch, James Upchurch Jr. and Joey Upchurch; daughter, Lisa Upchurch; sisters, Thelma Moore and Margie Jones.

Ms. Upchurch was a longtime member at Sorrell Grove Baptist Church where she enjoyed being in the Women’s Fellowship Group and Bingo. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She always looked forward to spending time with her family and the all the fur babies. She loved the color pink and getting her nails done.

Mary loved going on vacation and taking trips to the mountains. She didn’t like apples a lot, however with her sweet and kind nature she joyfully picked apples to give to friends and family. She also liked shopping whether for herself or someone else. Mary was a selfless woman who always wanted to do something for others.

She will be remembered as a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed but always cherished.

Ms. Upchurch is survived by her son, Jamie Upchurch wife Patty; daughter, Lori Ann Upchurch Hewitt; grandchildren, James Upchurch, Sebastian Hewitt and Haylen Hewitt and other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Sorrell Grove Baptist Church, 210 Sorrell Grove Church Rd., Morrisville, NC 27560. Interment will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens in Raleigh, NC. Rev. Glenn Davis will officiate. Serving as Pallbearers will be James Upchurch, Sebastian Hewitt and Ryan Tedesco.
