Mary Elizabeth Merrick Oakley

Mary Elizabeth Merrick Oakley, 99, of Oxford, NC peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.  Mrs. Oakley was born on October 12, 1922 in Beaufort, NC to the late Leon and Alice Merrick.

Mrs. Oakley worked for many years in the medical profession as a Duty Nurse, where she enjoyed taking care of patients and working alongside doctors.  Mary was a longtime member at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.

Mary was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She will be remembered as a caring, compassionate and strong woman who will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known her.

Mrs. Oakley is survived by her son, Wallace “Skeeter” Logner (Brenda); grandchildren, Bryant Logner, Jenny Logner, Tammy Logner, Tracy Logner, Tony Lee Logner, Don Logner and Heather Walker; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Champion, Justin Logner and Hunter Wall; great-great grandchildren, Blayton Logner, Eli Logner and Leo Logner and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Mrs. Oakley was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lewis Anthony Logner and Marvin Oakley; sons, Ralph Logner and Sneezy Logner; granddaughter, Angela Logner; Four sisters and One brother.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Justin Logner, Bryan Logner, Edward Christmas, Jeff Honeycut, Tommy Williams, Hunter Wall.

The family will receive friends on June 6, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Hudson Funeral Home. Don Logner will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Flowers are acceptable.
