Mary Jo-Ann Johnson

DURHAM- Ms. Mary Jo-Ann Johnson, age 61, of Durham, NC passed away Wednesday March 24, 2021 at her home. She was born December 19, 1959 in Sunnyvale, California. Daughter of the late Dave and Charlotte Gurry. Spending her upbringing between California, Maryland and North Carolina, she planted roots in Durham, NC where she would share her life with her loving husband, Titus Capers. She took pride in being a homemaker, a mother and a rockin Grandma. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Ms. Johnson is preceded in death by her son, Joshua Johnson.

Ms. Johnson is survived by her husband, Titus Capers; Sons, Alex Bethurum (Chelsea), Christopher Bethurum; Daughter, Angel Johnson; Brothers Michael Gurry (Vicki) and Joseph Gurry; Grandchildren, Damon, Devon, Charlotte, Briyanna, Zoe and Delilah; Nephews, Michael, Nicolas, Joey and Andrew; Biological Father, Joseph Laupert.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields. Inurnment will follow at Glenview Memorial Park.
