Martin Shenhouse

DURHAM- Mr. Martin Shenhouse, 90, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020.

Mr. Shenhouse was born on August 3, 1930 to Philip and Sophie Shenhouse in Jersey City, NJ. He worked as a carpenter for 40 years and belonged to The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Martin loved playing softball when he was younger and liked watching professional wrestling. In his free time, he enjoyed playing tennis and shooting pool. His favorite pastime was to make people laugh. Even as he got older, he would joke around with the assisted living staff to make sure they smiled. Everyone remembered Marty. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Shenhouse was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Sophie Shenhouse, and his wife, Bernice Shenhouse.

Mr. Shenhouse is survived by his son, Michael Shenhouse (Wylli) of Durham, NC; daughter, Joni Smith (Terry) of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Sam Shenhouse of Long Island, NY; sister, Susan Fiengold (Jerry) of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Timothy Fox (Hope), and Rebecca Shenhouse; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brooklyn, and Harrison Fox.

A private graveside service will be held at Judea Reform Congregation Cemetery.

in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Judea Reform Congregation Religious School at 1933 W. Cornwallis Road, Durham, NC 27705.
