Lula Mangum, 98, of Bahama, NC, passed away on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 15, 1926, the daughter of the late Sally Cash Mangum and Van Buren Mangum.
She retired from American Tobacco Company after working there from 1953 to 1987. She was a member of Ellis Chapel UMC. She was known for her marvelous pecan pies, her willingness to help others and her sweet disposition.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her son Joseph (Joe) M. Walker; brother, John Alex Mangum; sisters, Betsy Hunt, Sally Wilson, Doris Pickard, Jean Weidman and Martha Duke; cousin, BF Paschall and nephews Sam Hunt, Tom Jeffries, David Weidman, and Bobby Hunt.
She is survived by daughter Eleanor Carter (Jan); son, Floyd Walker (Angela); grandson, Matthew Wagoner (Samantha); step granddaughter, April Carnell (Keith); great granddaughters, Mera, Joanna, Elsa and Brigid Wagoner; great grandsons, Luke and Nathanael Wagoner; very special sister, Vann Rhew and numerous nieces and nephews who she remembered every birthday until the end.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Ellis Chapel United Methodist Church, 2516 Levi Ln., Bahama, NC. Rev. Billy Yeargin will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
