Linda Williams Fogleman

October 1, 1944 — October 21, 2023

Linda Williams Fogleman, 79 of Durham, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Linda was born in Durham to the late Rowland F. Williams, Sr. and Gertrude Matthews Williams.

She grew up in the Lowes Grove Community, attended Lowes Grove Schools and was a member of Lowes Grove Baptist Church. She graduated from Southern High School in 1962, where she was a Majorette. Linda graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1966.

Linda worked at Durham Technical Institute as a Nursing Instructor until 1983 when she retired due to her MS diagnosis.

Linda has been an active member of Berea Baptist Church since 1981 and an active member of the American Legion Post 416 Auxiliary since 1963, where she served as Chaplain for the Post for many years.  Linda volunteered in Dr. Ugo Goetzl’s Neurology office in Durham for several years with MS patients and volunteered in her childrens’ schools through PTAs and Sports Booster Clubs

Linda’s tenacity in life gave witness to all who knew her. Her faith never wavered, and her spirit was one of spunk and sass. If you were in her presence, you would be granted her opinion, whether you asked or not.

Linda was an avid Duke fan, however, that loyalty was skewed whenever one of her children or grandchildren were playing on a sports team.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-seven years, Rev. Jay A. Fogleman, her brother, Rowland F. Williams, Jr. and her son, William N. Small.

She is survived by her children; Lee Berrios-Smothers (Chad), Connie H. Small (Jennifer), Dr. Jay A. Fogleman, Jr (Kathe), Joseph A. Fogleman and Dr. Kathleen C. Irwin; sister-in-law, Ann S. Williams; ten grandchildren, Austin Berrios (Jessica), Braxton Berrios, Taylor Small, Baylee Small, Anders Fogleman (Toni), Sarah Fogleman, Garreth Irwin, Morgan Fogleman, Simmone Gagnon and Cecelia Gagnon; five great-grandchildren, Poppy Berrios, Ronin Irwin, Jonah Fogleman, Jayden Townsend and Kylie Townsend.

Linda’s family would like to thank Carol Bullard, Lisa Moore and Kellie Norwood for their help in loving and caring for “Ma” throughout the last several years. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the WakeMed Cary ICU Team for their amazing medical care over the last three weeks.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11a.m. at Berea Baptist Church. Dr. Robbie Wortham will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Anders Fogleman, Sarah Fogleman, Garreth Irwin, Austin Berrios, Braxton Berrios, Morgan Fogleman, Taylor Small and Baylee Small. Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion Post 416 Auxiliary members.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at “Ma’s” home. Please stop by and share your memories and grab a notepad from Ma’s extensive collection.
