Larry Daniel Perkins

Larry Daniel Perkins, 75, of Durham traded his earthly home for Heaven on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, after a brief but unexpected hospital stay. Larry, a Durham native, was born on March 2, 1951, to Chester Guy Perkins and Dollie Mae Briggs Perkins, both preceding him in death. There is no doubt his loving wife of 52 Years, Patsy, was waiting for him there. Larry is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Floyd Perkins (Ann) and Steve Perkins (Brenda). Larry is survived by his sister Susan Perkins and his only daughter, who was his entire world, Kimberly.

Larry started his career young, working for the Durham County Sheriffs Office. After his time there, he began working for Piedmont Communications where he spent 35 years before enjoying retirement. Larry is a long time member of All Saints United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending services when he was able. He loved bluegrass music, was a diehard UNC TARHEELS fan, and always enjoyed a good cookout. More than anything he loved his family. He longed for the day to be reunited with Patsy, but had a bond with Kimberly that was undeniable.

Larry has had many medical obstacles to overcome through the years. After survivng multiple heart attacks and strokes, and receiving unending dialysis treatments as a result, the later part of Larry’s life proved to his family and friends that God still performs miracles. He lived his life each day with stregnth, and a smile on his face.

The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Fresinius South Durham Dialysis Center for the care extended to Larry these last few years. You helped us enjoy life with him even longer and for that, we are truly thankful!

The family will welcome friends at Hudson Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 1 pm followed by a Celebration of Life service in the Chapel at 2:00 PM. 

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.  Pastor Chase Albright will Officiate.
