Kenneth “Scotty” Rigsbee, known to his friends and family as Daddy – Row, 65 of Durham, NC, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, and went to be with his Lord and Savior. Scotty was born on April 4, 1961, to the late Ira Kenneth Rigsbee and Betty Stevenson. He grew up in Durham with roots in Trinity Baptist Church, where Dr. Freeman baptized him, and later married the mother of his first two children. Later, he remarried his third child’s mother in Jamaica.
Scotty supported his family by painting. He worked for UNC for 10 years and later worked with his son at Mr. & Mrs. Maintenance for 20 years. He was a simple, laid-back man with an easygoing personality, and an infectious smile. He did not need many materialistic things to be happy. He found his joy in God’s creation by dancing, fishing, listening to music, and spending time at the dragstrip with his grandkids. He also loved spending time outdoors at Kerr Lake with his grandparents and siblings. Scotty loved cooking on the grill while listening to his favorite music. He enjoyed NASCAR and anything to do with being near the water.
Family was special to Scotty. He is survived by his first wife, Cheryl Rigsbee Padgett of Louisburg, NC, and their children Scott Rigsbee Jr. of Raleigh, NC, and Tiffany Rigsbee McFalls (Scoot) of Durham, NC.
His second wife, Jackie Rigsbee Roberson of Pittsboro, NC, and their son Dylan Hines Rigsbee (Sindely) of Pittsboro, NC.
His siblings: Cherry L. Rigsbee (Duncan) of Hurdle Mills, NC, William Michael Rigsbee (Cindy) of LaFayette, TN, Shane Rigsbee of Louisburg, NC, and Kendal Rigsbee Williams (Joshua) of Stem, NC.
He leaves behind his stepmother Peggy Rigsbee, 2 stepbrothers, 3 grandchildren, Dawson, Austin, and Jaxon; 6 nieces and nephews; 9 great nieces and nephews, and 1 great - great niece.
Scotty shared a special bond with his grandchildren, especially his grandson Jaxon, whom he picked up from school every day, always sharing honeybuns and Gatorades.
He always reminded his grandchildren to “mind your mom and dad.”
His son Dylan says his favorite advice from his dad was “Think smarter, not harder”.
He was affectionately known by giving out nicknames – “Buck” was friends and family, “Papa Snooks” was his grandfather, and “Cherry Bell” was a name for his sister. Scotty also had a loyal best friend, a dog named “Chaos” who rode alongside him.
He will be deeply missed by many special friends, including Todd and Wayne Carol, Beverly and Karen Lyons, Allen Dry, Jim Irvin, and many others whose lives he touched deeply.
His children are at peace, knowing the relationship he had with his Lord and Savior.
Scotty will be remembered for his kind heart, simple ways, love for his family, and the joy he found in everyday moments.
A visitation will be held at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd. Durham, NC, on Sunday, April 26th, from 4 to 6 pm. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please reach out to his daughter, Tiffany McFalls to donate towards funeral expenses.
