Katie Holt Hurley

DURHAM- Mrs. Katie Holt Hurley, 84, passed away on July 12, 2021.

Katie was born February 2, 1937 to the late Jack Holt and Maggie (Parham) Jones in Roxboro, NC. Mrs. Hurley faithfully attended Bible Believers Church. She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family, as well as attending family gatherings. Katie loved her family dearly. She always went out of her way to make sure they all were taken care of.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hurley is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Hurley; and son-in-law, Tony Herndon.

Mrs. Hurley is survived by her son, Tony Hurley (Yvonne) of Durham; daughters, JoAnne Hurley Herndon of Durham and Shirley Jean King (Danny) of Stem; brothers, Jack Holt, Timmy Holt and Jimmy Holt; sisters, Ann Hunt, Cleerdeen Suitts, Gail Duncan and Cleta Blish; grandchildren, Chris Herndon (Lorie), Kevin Herndon (Kelly), Tony Hurley, Jr. (Amy), Shannon Abbott (Eddie), Danny King, Jr. (Amanda) and Tasha Robinson; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers are Chris Herndon, Kevin Herndon, Tony Hurley, Jr., Danny King, Jr., Mike Jones, Eddie Abbott, Lane Herndon and Landon Herndon. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are BJ Norris and Lewis Jones.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. David Hunt. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
