Kathryn Wood Denton

Kathryn Wood Denton, 88, of Durham, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.  She was born March 26, 1935 in Wilson County, NC to the late George and Martha Wood.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband R. Max Denton; son, Dennis Denton; brothers, George, Willie, Bennie and Marvin Wood; sisters, Hazel Ferrell, Rosalee McKenna and Grace Brown.

Mrs. Denton is survived by her daughter, Jane Rose, son-in-law Crow Rose and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was a longtime and charter member of Harvest Glen Baptist Church, where she was very active for many years not only by singing in the Choir and working as a Bookkeeper but also faithfully attending church.  She retired from Durham County Court System as a Supervisor in Child Support in 1997 after over 35 years of service.

Mrs. Denton enjoyed cooking and gardening.  However, she loved to play cards especially Canasta with Max.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sibling and aunt who always maintained her faith in the Lord.  She will be missed by the countless lives she touched over the years.

A Private Burial will be held at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens where she will be interred next to Max.

A Memorial Service may be held at a later date.
