Karen Paden

d. August 4, 2023

Karen Sue Sleighter Ferrari Paden, born on November 20, 1943, in Oak Ridge, TN and raised in Everett, PA, passed away on August 4, 2023. She was the daughter of Dennis Abram Sleighter and Mary Maxine (Householder) Sleighter of Everett, PA.

Karen’s legacy is carried on by her loving children, Forrest K Ferrari, his wife Stacy, and their children, Mia and Mason of Palm City, FL, and Jessica L Ferrari of Durham, NC. Let us not forget her loyal furry companions, Roxie and Louie, who stood by her side as faithful and devoted friends. Among her surviving family are two sisters: Brenda (Sleighter) Replogle and her husband Dennis of Bedford, PA, Debbie (Sleighter) Babcock and her husband, Bill, of North Carolina, and a brother, Lance Sleighter, and his wife Vicki (Imes) Sleighter of Everett, PA.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Maxine (Householder) Sleighter, and father Dennis Abram Sleighter of Everett, PA, her son, Cord Ferrari of Pennsylvania, a sister Diane Pryde, and brothers Harry Sleighter and Shane Sleighter.

She played multiple roles with grace – the best dog-mom a pet could have, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt and cousin to many, and a friend to all. In the career arena, Karen was in medical office administration.  Her accountability and hardworking nature were evident in every facet of her life.

Karen’s vibrant personality brought laughter to countless lives. Her infectious smile, short-blond hair and bright green/blue eyes were a reflection of her outward radiance and earned a place in the hearts of many.

Whether basking in the sun on the beach, acing a golf shot, winning her Fantasy Football League or conquering life’s challenges with unwavering determination, Karen’s spirit shone brightly.

As we bid farewell to Karen, let us remember the legacy of love, laughter, and boundless compassion she leaves behind. Rest in peace, dear Karen, knowing that your light continues to shine brightly in the lives you’ve touched.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in memory of Karen or donate to the Animal Protection Society of Durham, NC.   https://www.apsofdurham.org/donate-to-the-annual-fund/

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and forever dear.”
