Joseph Macon Morris

Mr. Joseph (Joe) Macon Morris, age 88, passed away January 8, 2024 in his home surrounded by family and friends.

Joe was born October 26, 1935 to the late parents of Macon Clifford Morris and Lois Buie in Winston-Salem, NC.

Joe served in the army from 1958 to 1964 including deployment to Germany from 1959 to 1960. After serving his country he worked at the Newport News Shipyard and later worked as a security guard with NASA and later at IBM in North Carolina. He served his church for 40 years, where he served as deacon and sang in the choir.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Shirley Lynch Morris and his sister Linda Morris Terry, brother James Patrick Morris, and his children Kenneth (Kathy), Wayne (Lannie), Gary (Leslie), and Katherine Medlin (Chris.)  He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
