Jose Edgardo Mendoza Lopez

Mr. Jose Edgardo Mendoza Lopez, 53, passed away January 15, 2024, due to injuries sustained in an accident. 

Edgardo was born November 29, 1970, to the late Maria Angela Lopez and Jose Mendoza in El Progreso, Yoro, Honduras. Edgardo was a person of both fun and admirable qualities. He dedicated himself to delivering exceptional work and consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic. His passion for soccer was evident as he engaged in various teams and championships, fulfilling roles as both a player and a coach. In addition to his professional pursuits, Edgardo cherished moments spent with family and friends. His memory will be cherished, and he will be deeply missed. 

Mr. Mendoza- Lopez was preceded in death by his sister, Maria Mendoza.  

Mr. Mendoza-Lopez is survived by his wife, Aracely Cabrera Mendoza; his sons, Nelson Edgardo Mendoza, Edgardo Mendoza Jr.; his daughters, Amanda Elizabeth Mendoza, Claudia Pamela Mendoza, and Katya Aracely Mendoza; and his grandchildren; Lianney Mendoza, Giuliana Mendoza, Jahdiel Mendoza, Amora Mendoza, Amy Mendoza, Jhade Mendoza, and Jhosie Mendoza. 

Serving as Pallbearers will be Nelson Edgardo Mendoza, Edgardo Mendoza Jr., Amanda Elizabeth Mendoza, Claudia Pamela Mendoza, Katya Aracely Mendoza, Maria Huerta, Rafael Jaramillo, and Nelson Cabrera Banegas.  

Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Jesus Rey de Gloria, 5471 N. Roxboro Rd., Durham, NC 27712. The funeral service will follow from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the same location. A burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Garden, 3712 Cheek Rd., Durham, NC 27704.
