A celebration of the life of John Turner

John Turner, 81, of Durham, North Carolina entered into glory on May 17, 2026. He was born to Charles and Elsie Turner in Oxford, North Carolina at Granville Medical Center on August 12, 1944.

John was born into a working farm family, Snider Farm, with 11 brothers and sisters. He moved to various states across the U.S. before eventually settling into Durham, North Carolina. The place where he would start his successful business, J.T. Tire. It continues to be proudly family-run until this day. John was hard-working, determined, a devoted husband and loving father. He gave back to his community at every opportunity that arose. But most importantly if you knew John, you knew his love for the Lord. He dedicated his life to his Savior and his Godly example is not soon to be forgotten. It will continue to ripple on through generations to come.

He is survived by his four children - Lisa Berberian, John Turner Jr., Rebekah Maxwell, and Gabriel Turner. Eleven grandchildren - Ryan Berberian, Sean Berberian, Lindsay Berberian, Victoria Scaggs, Courtney Hendricks, Abigail Turner, Andrew Turner, Bella Turner, Colton Turner, Callen Turner, and Arliss Turner. And two great grandchildren - Savannah Scaggs and Ivy Scaggs.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Turner.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Gray Rock United Methodist Church, 4173 Gray Rock Rd, Kittrell, NC 27544. Pastor Paul Mwangi will officiate. Interment will follow at Gray Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery.
