Joan Carolyn Cox Bounds

DURHAM- Mrs. Joan Carolyn Cox Bounds, 71, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Monday, November 25, 2019.
Mrs. Bounds was born on October 18, 1948 to William and Sophia Cox, Jr. in Norfolk, VA. Joan was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School to all ages. She was a prayer warrior and a devoted, faithful woman with a servant’s heart. Joan was selfless, loving, and loyal. She will be missed by all blessed to have known her.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, William “Bill” Cox, III. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Howard Bounds, III; sons, Howard Vincent “Vince” Bounds, IV (Kristen), and Brett Gordon Bounds (Rachel); daughter, Kristin Bounds Righi (Cody); and grandchildren, Harper May Bounds, Jade Carolyn Bounds, and Finley Edward Bounds.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Bethesda Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Jonathan Barbee. Pallbearers will be Vince Bounds, Brett Bounds, Cody Righi, Anthony Barkley, Scott Smith, Jason Hall, and Chuck Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bethesda Baptist Church missions teams.
