Jo Ann Langdon, 71, passed away in Lynchburg, VA on Sunday, July 26, 2026. She was born on October 12, 1954 in Floral City, Florida to the late Ralph and Alma Bedford.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Jere Bedford; sister, Linda Faye Bedford and her sister-in-law, Dianne Langdon.
Jo Ann was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother of 2 sons. She was a proud grandmother who adored her grandchildren and looked forward to help raising them and enjoyed every moment she spent with them.
Family nights often consisted of card games and got very competitive, especially between her and John, even Uno could change the night, but it always ended in laughter.
Mrs. Langdon loved to travel and has been all over the world. She has set foot in most of the US States and especially enjoyed the Covered Bridge Tour of New England. However, she also liked to keep things local and that brought her to being the #1 customer at Mr. Goodies Ice Cream in Lynchburg. Her favorite hobby was giving “The Bedford Salute”.
Jo Ann was a strong-willed, supportive and caring woman with a heart of gold. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and gave that same love to her extended family. Jo Ann will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known her.
Jo Ann is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, John Langdon, Jr.; sons, Scott Langdon and Kevin Langdon; grandchildren, Emily, Ayden, Chase and Brady; honorary daughters, Michelle, Dana, Angela and Jennifer; brothers, Lenard Bedford (Sherri), J.T. Bedford (Janice), Gene Bedford (Susan), Larry Bedford, Lloyd Bedford (Kim) and Floyd Bedford (Jane); sister-in-law, Susan Groves (Jim) and numerous loving nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC. The Committal Service will follow at 12:30 P.M. that same day at Community Memorial Gardens, 1586 Tally Ho Rd., Stem, NC. Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate.
The family will receive family and friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 A.M.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Zack Groves, Jim Groves, Isaac Mensah, Ricky Rich, Tracey Rich and Andrew Wadford.
