Jewel Branch Rich

Jewel Branch Rich, 98, of Durham passed away on December 5, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Mrs. Rich was born in Durham on February 12, 1927, to the late Brodie Duke and Lela Hunnings Branch.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rich is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Carson Rich; brothers, H.P. Branch, Donald Branch and Rodney Branch; a sister, Carol Whitley.

Mrs. Rich is survived by two daughters, Jeanine Yates and husband, Rodney and JoAnn McBride and husband, Jerry, both of Durham; brother, Michael Branch of Kinston, NC; sister, Brenda Wyatt of GA; grandchildren, Lori Seymour and husband, Adam, Brian Yates and wife, Jennifer, Nicholas McBride and wife, Kimberly, Jason McBride, Kevin Yates and wife Beth, Philip McBride and wife Krystal, and Noah Yates; great-grandchildren, Megan Yates, Ethan Seymour, Brayden Yates, Madison Seymour, Alexandra Yates, Hannah McBride, Joshua McBride, Mason McBride, Carson Yates, Molly Yates, Everleigh McBride, Elijah McBride, Aria Seymour, Judah McBride and Amelia McBride.

Mrs. Rich loved her Lord and her family dearly. She was a true prayer warrior and found great joy in sharing the gospel message with others. She faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher at Hyde Park Pentecostal Holiness Church and Living Waters Christian Community, where she also held the positions of Secretary and Treasurer.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking for family gatherings, traveling with Carson—especially their trips to Oak Island, NC—and spending time in her garden. Mrs. Rich was a happy and grateful person, whose gentle spirit and devotion will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Hudson Funeral Home from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. in Hudson Funeral Home Chapel.

Officiating will be the Reverend Greg Long.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas McBride, Jason McBride, Brian Yates, Noah Yates, Kevin Yates and Adam Seymour.

Flowers are acceptable.
