Janie Pearce Pope

Janie Elizabeth Pearce Pope, 73, passed away April 15, 2022 at Duke Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Pope was born July 17, 1948 to the late Bessie and William Pearce in Wake County.  Janie loved her family dearly as well as her church, Providence Baptist Church in Oxford.  She also enjoyed cooking for her family, tending flowers and going fishing.  She also enjoyed her co-workers at NCDOT Special Needs Transportation.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pope is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Sherron; 2 brothers, William “Bill” Pearce and Rex Pearce; and a sister, Betsy Jean Wheeler.

Janie is survived by her husband Larry Pope; one son, Marty E. Sherron (Wendy) of Surfside Beach, S. C.; daughters, Lisa A. Sherron (Mike), Crystal Pope, and Tammy Davis; Grandchildren, Marty E. Sherron, II (Crystal), Cody E. Sherron (Candace), Alexis Pope, Joey David Pope (Carla), Brittney Pope, Cynthia Noell, Aubree Pope, Brantley Queen and Connor David Sherron; Great-Grandchildren Wyatt David Pope and Jaxon Mathew Sherron.

Serving as Pallbearers are Mike Baker, Cody Sherron, Joey Pope, Marty Sherron II and Connor Sherron.  Honorary Pallbearer is Brantley Queen.

A visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, April 19, 2022 at Hudson Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at South Granville Memorial Gardens, 3040 Old NC 75, Stem, NC.
